2.18 - "Needs Work"

This portrait is of a friend of mine from Germany visiting me in San Francisco. I rented an EF 135mm f/2 lens which takes the most gorgeous photos! I believe I shot this on my Canon 5DMk3 and I think it was natural light, despite the skin tones looking like a flash. It was a long time ago so hard to remember. I did a little retouch work on the face, mostly the eyes to make them pop. The bokeh and background on it are natural! Loooove this photo!

Eyes look great. Lighting is pretty flat but it makes for a nice natural portrait. What's the point of all the empty (negative) space? Seems to throw the balance of the image off, and the blue color of the wall or background is arguably not all that attractive. Of course color is subjective and what I dislike for color, the next person is gonna love. That's the risk though in giving it so much emphasis.
