In my small community I mainly do video work but I've really been missing photography work that I enjoy. I started reaching out to some people online that I thought may be comfortable in front of the camera.
I asked Lana if she would like to come down to my studio to do a test shoot and play around with some lighting and posing. I sent an inspiration board of some photos I liked. She arrived looking amazing with hair, makeup and nails all done up. I think we spent a couple hours in the studio experimenting and her confidence increased as we progressed.
This shot in particular utilized my Westcott ringlight that I had bought back in the summer but never had a good opportunity to try out. The background was a simple V-flat.
As for editing I really didn't have to do much, I of course removed a couple minor blemishes, speckles, sharpened eyes. The inside of her hand was really red from using cleaners at work, it was a bit challenging to reduce that. I spent time on cleaning up flyaway hairs, there was a fair bit on her neck I wanted to remove and some distracting strands in other areas. I think cropped the image tighter. Overall it's one of my favourite studio shots I've done so far. I'll be sure to work with Lana on some more projects in the future. Sony A7RV, 14-24 Sigma Art @ 24. ISO 200, f2.8
