Really nice photo.
I gave your portrait a 3 rating of "solid: as I think it fits well with their request of "we are particularly interested in faces and expressions. The expression is subtle but so many of the images posted have zero expression or emotion. Nut I also wanted to say the image seems over saturated (for my taste anyway) in post and would have more impact without it IMO. (If not done in post my apologies)
