I'm very drawn to sculptures where the human body is used as an expression, and I wanted to achieve an Atlas-inspired image with an overall golden hue.
I achieved this image using a two-light setup: one big softbox with an orange gel above the subject and one medium softbox in front to fill in a bit of the shadows, as I wanted to maintain that dramatic overhead lighting.
Shot on Nikon D850 with 85mm 1.4 lens at f16
The subject was standing on two painted backdrops and resting his head on my assistant's shoulder so I could add the golden cracked sphere, which I created using 3D in post-production.
