Varanasi is the only place in the earth where one can escape Samsara, the eternal cycle of reincarnation, to finally reach Moksa, liberation. To do this the body must be cremated and the ashes scattered in the sacred waters of the Ganges River. In the photo you can see four people from the untouchable caste (the lowest) move a body wrapped in elegant fabrics onto a pile of wood ready for cremation. Due to the monsoon and the overflowing of the Ganje this process takes place on the roof of a building instead of the Ganjes rivers.
