The New Western / Thank You Mr. Redford
Over the years I can’t think how many times I past through this valley. A favorite of mine. On this particular trip finally all one (I :)) could wish for was present (especially me :) ). The scattered puffy clouds, field full of golden grass with a compliantly assortment of Hereford and Black Angus cattle and “light” … well.
Ansel Adams said “Sometimes I do get to places just when God’s ready to have somebody click the shutter.” I like to think Ansel would agree this was one of those times.
One of the hardest things to landscape photography is taking the “Big Picture” and refine it from too much information into a much more simplified, condensed, and strongest elements for the most powerful image. Sometimes the available file aspect ratios don’t fit the bill. Hence E Pluribus Unum - “out of many, one”. Freeform file aspect ratio, answer The Panorama limited only by one’s imagination. Who would thought the solution to cropping a big/large image would be by adding a number of precisely composed images that pre-visualize a single frame crop/chop. Sometimes it’s the only answer.
