Summer 2023 was very warm in London, which not only made for misty sunrises but also for a large number of flies and mosquitoes! As I was waiting for the sun to rise, I notice this young stag continuously shaking off these pesky visitors. I patiently waited for the sun to break above the horizon and when it finally did, the flare wrapped the scene in a deep red colour, adding great atmosphere to this unusual standoff in beautiful backlight.
