This macro was taken while I was housesitting for a friend, when a dried cactus bloom caught my eye in soft golden light. I was immediately drawn to the juxtaposition between the curled, reddish-magenta bloom and the luminous yellow-green cactus body. The challenge here was depth of field, so I worked carefully to anchor the focus on the bloom while letting the surrounding needles fall into a textured gradient. The lighting is natural, coming from a nearby window that gave the scene a diffused glow. In post, I barely touched the file: a gentle increase in vibrance and a mild reduction in saturation to keep the complementary colors rich but still organic. The palette is essentially how the moment felt: quiet, intimate, and colorful.
