I made this photograph at Truchas Lakes near Taos, New Mexico, during the spring thaw. The reflection in a still pool caught the warm alpenglow on the ridge, framed by deep evergreens and the cool blues of the sky and water. Working with reflection always brings subtle challenges: wind, shifting light, and finding the right angle so that the grasses along the shore create a natural frame rather than a distraction. I waited for a moment of complete calm and shot using only available light. The result preserves the quiet, painterly quality of the scene exactly as it appeared in the water.

Gotta admit I had to look at it for a little while in order to figure out what it was :P Really cool shot tho :)
