We were in Acadia, Maine in the summer headed to Bass Harbor Lighthouse so I could take some sunset photos. Traffic had slowed down and a lot of cars had pulled over. I caught a glimpse of a rainbow off to my left between some buildings. I found a spot to pull over. I grabbed my camera and went out on a pier on a lake where this rainbow was visible.

I set my camera to take a burst of 5 photos 0.7 stops apart. So at exposures -1.4, -.0.7, 0. +0.7 and +1.4 stops. I was shooting with a Nikon D200 at F8, ISO 200, 1/100 sec. This is a 5 exposure HDRI image processed in Photoshop. I adjusted the image to match what I saw in the field which included a noticeably dark sky and vivid reflection on the lake. I had to move rapidly to get to a good vantage point so I used a monopod for stabilization. Within a few minutes of taking this set of photos the rainbow started to fade.
