Rescue in Motion
A Spanish Maritime Rescue helicopter hovers during a winching operation, while the motion-blurred rotor blades convey the energy and power of flight. I wanted to preserve the sharpness of the aircraft and the rescuer while allowing the rotor disc to become a dynamic visual element, emphasizing movement rather than freezing the action.
This image was captured handheld with a Sony A7R III and a 200–600 mm lens at an effective focal length of 348 mm. To achieve the desired rotor blur, I selected a shutter speed of 1/30 s, combined with f/5, ISO 100, and careful panning to keep the helicopter sharp during the hover.
