In winter, the steep drop off the snow turns into The Cirque, a narrow double black chute with exposed sharks in the middle, that opens onto a nice bowl with fun lines. The entrance gets the heart pumping, the powder snow is the reward.
For double scariness, to get this framing I had to position myself stretched forward standing at the edge of a 20 foot dropoff, one hand holding a boulder, the other the camera. Never mind risking the equipment, I was the one taking risks.
I framed the image to use the well of melted snow as a feature and to lead the eye through the scene, from front to mid peak, and into the hazy background mountains. If you zoom in you can just see the top of Harmony Chair behind Little Whistler.
