CASE Remote Air Looks to Reduce Size and Improve Performance

CheeringTech, the China-based company behind the original CASE Remote and CASE Remote Plus, are back again with another CASE Remote update and this time they're hoping to drastically improve performance while reducing the physical size of the unit. All this while offering the same features as the industry leader CamRanger. To achieve this, they're launching the CASE Remote Air.

The CASE Air is 70 percent smaller than the original CASE Remote, and also promises greatly improved Wi-Fi signal strength. The feature set is, on paper, comparable to that of the CamRanger. Namely, remote live view and capture, photo transmission, time lapse, bracketing, focus stacking HDR, and full manual control.

What interests me most about the CASE Air isn't the device itself, it's the accessories. CheeringTech is also introducing their Robotic Mount system and the CASE Relay, a continuous power solution for your camera that lets you power your DSLR using a wall outlet or standard USB battery pack. The Robotic Mount is a two-axis motorized mount that can be remotely controlled from the CASE app. You can use it for photo or video, and CheeringTech is pairing it with an optional 26-foot carbon fiber tripod to really get your camera up in the air.

The CASE Remote Air is currently finishing up an Indigogo campaign that is already fully funded, so now would (theoretically) be a good time to try out the system at a lower price as the retail unit will go for $199. You can get it at $84 if you back the project. I'm sure we'll give the unit a spin at some point and post our own thoughts on the unit as well.
