Who It’s For:
This lens is for photographers who need a medium telephoto lens with a very wide aperature for indoor sports. This is also an exceptional portrait lens.
What We Like:
Weight: This lens is very light at only 1 pound.
Build Quality: This lens feels very solid
USM Autofocus: The Autofocus on this camera is very fast and very quiet.
Sharpness: It’s tack sharp at f/2 and only improves a little bit as you stop down, and gets much worse around f/16 because of diffraction.
On Crop Sensors: On 1.3x and 1.6x sensors this lens becomes a 130mm or 160mm lens.
What We Don’t:
Focal Length: While this isn’t a major issue if you are dead set on the 100mm focal lengh, but 100mm seems a bit tight indoors, we prefer the 85mm f/1.8.
