Nikon 24mm f/1.4G ED AF-S

Nikon 24mm f/1.4G ED AF-S

Who It’s For:

This is a fairly wide angle lens with a very fast aperture and is for anyone who wants a tack sharp prime lens that with a newer camera can pretty much see in the dark, this is the lens for you.

What We Like:

Size: This lens was tested on a D800 and the proportions just seemed perfect. The weight was balanced and it just felt right.

Aperture: At f/1.4 this lens is great for low light situations

Video: If you need a wider lens for video that still retains it’s sharpness wide open, this is an excellent choice.

Sharpness: This lens is tack sharp, even at f/1.4

What We Don’t:

Price: It’s an incredible lens, but you’ll definitely pay a premium for it.

Love it! Definitely not an all-rounder though, only for special occasions.

Have to disagree, its an excellent all rounder.

I only got this to shoot the northern lights (auroral borealis), and this is the only lens which is wide enough with the perfect aperture. I can now reach shutterspeeds which seemed impossible just a few years ago. This in combination with the low light capability of the D3s is just perfect.

A lower depth review of any gear is impossible to contemplate.

this lens and the 200 f2 are my dream lenses.
