A Review of the Impressively Fast Fujifilm GF 80mm f/1.7 R WR Lens

Fuji's medium format system has proven wildly popular, and as the company has expanded the lineup, they have released some quite impressive lenses. The GF 80mm f/1.7 R WR is one of those lenses, and this great video review takes a look at it and how it performs in practice.

Coming to you from Dustin Abbott, this excellent video review takes a look at the Fujifilm GF 80mm f/1.7 R WR lens. With a remarkably wide aperture for a medium format lens and all the benefits of modern design, the 80mm f/1.7 looks very impressive. It includes features such as:

  • Two Super ED elements for reduced chromatic aberrations and increased clarity
  • One aspherical element for reduced distortion and increased sharpness
  • Physical aperture ring
  • Dust- and weather-sealing
  • Fluorine coating on front element for repelling dust, dirt, and moisture
  • Rounded nine-blade diaphragm for smoother bokeh

No doubt, the GF 80mm f/1.7 R WR lens is one of the more extreme designs to come along in quite some time, and it looks like it backs it up with notably good image quality, making it a great option for anyone looking for a top-shelf portrait lens. Check out the video above for Abbott's full thoughts.
