Fuji made a bold move in releasing the X-Pro3, producing a camera that wasn’t afraid to step away from the norm and retain a large chunk of its rangefinder heritage. The company seems to have a deep understanding of its customers, and in this video, Gerald Undone takes you through seven reasons why you will love this camera.
Gerald picks out one of the most subtle features of the Fuji, which sits close to my heart: a menu system that is actively trying to help you understand the settings, rather than leaving you to Google endlessly, battling seemingly random technical terms and unnecessary abbreviations. As Gerald notes, there are various settings for the camera’s mechanical and electronic shutters, all of which have implications for your image-making, and Fuji is keen for you to understand everything without having to resort to flipping through the manual or reaching for your smartphone.
As someone who has ranted repeatedly about camera manufacturers’ tendency to completely ignore user interface when it comes to designing menu systems, this seems refreshing. Sure, the typeface is still all over the shop (why is it all in capital letters when uppercase is proven to be harder read than lowercase? And don’t get me started on the kerning!), but let’s take the small victories. Thank you, Fuji.

I can give 8 why I won't.
His hair would be at the top of my list.
And I think people would find a bunch of reason why your opinion is unimportant
Fine by me 😁
The whole video is basically an ad, straight from the marketing materials.
This *was* my style of camera with the X-Pro2, until Fuji decided that they want to dictate how one is supposed to shoot. Well, just provide the tools, I decide on my own how I want to shoot.
Three reasons why I won't buy the Fuji X-Pro3:
- Hidden screen was unnecessary and is impractical at best
- No IBIS
- Still X-Trans
I'm sure it's a fine camera for the ones willing to live with its (artificial) limitations but I won't be upgrading.
The hidden screen is why I want to buy it, more than the optical viewfinder although that is obvi a draw, too
The optical viewfinder is great but why can’t I use both? People who don’t want to use a screen just don’t turn it on. It can’t get any simpler than that.
I can guarantee there were absolutely zero user requests for a hidden screen because it makes no practical sense. The way it probably went was there were a number of requests for a flip down screen for waist level shooting. And that’s what they came up with. 🤦♂️
Some flog telling me I "should" spend money on something is a surefire way to make me not want to spend money on that thing.
-1 this line: " The company seems to have a deep understanding of its customers."
I don't think this has anything to do with customers. I just hope they abandon this hidden screen idea for the X-Pro4.
I shoot from the hip more than I shoot with the back screen..but there are also some shots that I never could have gotten without the back screen..I dont know man..this x pro 3 left me really confused here..
Only reading the headline is giving me one reason not to watch this video and for sure not to buy this camera.
I hate it when people try to tell me, what I(!) need!
Why I won't:
X-H2.
If they make the bright frame in the OVF suitable for the 18mm lens again in a next model (16mm would be even better), I will seriously consider it. But for now, I have to conclude that the XP2 is *better* than the XP3 (which ditched the two magnification levels). For now, I have decided to buy a second XP2, instead of moving to the XP3.
