Triptych of Simon

Hey you all...
here are three pictures of Simon, shot in the studio with a simple three light setup:
One beauty dish in front and above the model as key light, one large silver umbrella with softlighter for some fill from the left side and one magnum reflector from right behind the model.
The intention in post production was to create some moody, leibovitz like look...

I think these look awesome!!

If I had to nitpik, the kicker light in the last one might be just a tad strong on the side of his face, but very minor!

loving this light man

Tom nailed it. The kicker is too strong by a tad. Not in absolute terms but in terms of the set. It is not matched tot he others in that sense. Overall as individual pictures they are well done and all are Ok. You have done a good job of the lighting and the shots look great. I do not see them as a set, let a lone a triptych, which to me means 3 related pictures working together. However, three for the price of one, fine and well done.

IMO I think his lower half could use some fill, things are kinda disappearing below his shirt. And you did a good job with the styling, down to his shoes, shame to lose all that.

Beauty dish? I have the same problem when lighting with such a small source. I've debated the idea of adding an umbrella underneath the key light just to hit the bottom of the frame, haven't tried it yet though.

For me the under lit lower section works well. It is not a fashion shoot but a portrait. So the emphasis is where it should be, the upper body and most importantly the face. The entire body needs styling and that has been done well but the lighting is not about showing off ones styling work but portraying the individual For me, a job well done.

Nailed it man. Looks great. Love the color

thanks man!!!

Killer.

I understand what Ian is saying in response to Jordan, and as much as I love the images, my first thought too was that the face is so much brighter than the rest of the full-length shot that it was distracting. The pics are great.

Thanks to everybody!
The bright light on his face was made on purpose, because the attention should be on his face...

very nice images! I am trying to understand why shoot at 1/800th? Was your strobes too powerful so shot it at HSS?

Thanks man...
Just right! I wanted an open aperture of 2.8 so the only option was to shoot it at HSS

Meh... Face needs less shoppage... and stop clipping your blacks...
