Wedding portraits often lack substance: we only strive to take "flattering" portraits. But the portraits often lack a story that tells anything about subject. I try to make a conscious effort to always find elements to add context to the portraits, and this is a good example. Shot with available window light.
I like the shot but don't know what the story is. It might help if I knew what the symbols mean.maybe some more drama if in black and white.I agree we shouldn't just take flattering portarits all the time.
The "symbols" are Arabic letters... which give some basic context about the ethnicity. To the more familiar audience, this short text is to Islam what a cross is to Christianity, but I admit this part is more subtle to a general audience. Then there is the placement of the bride, the direction of the light and the position of the text in the composition. ..
