Dentist portrait

HI!

Would appreciate any feedback on this recent portrait shoot of a dentist.
I used a YN 560 III and a 110cm umbrella box. I should have brough a reflector
to lighten up the shadow on her left side I think.

I don't think the shadow is too dark, but I think a little fill to soften the lines might be appreciated by her.

Thanks for your comment! I agree, I tried to soften the light a bit in PS, I think I can't go any further now.

Generally I would not demand a reflector to her left but in this case I do feel it would help, because her teeth and nose appear to be slightly asymetrical, and a bit of fill would have reduced the 3D effect and this may have de-emphasised the asymetry. Also for a dentist, a super clean look is a classic approach, for good reason. That is not to say one always has to follow the classic approach, clearly that is not the case at all.

I think this shot would benefit greatly from a gentle touch of FS. I can't tell if her skin has a slight pattern/texture or if you have used a high ISO and have noticable grain especially on her face. It would be better without, for a fairly young woman.

She has a great smaile, you capture her looking very naural, happy and engaged with you and hense with us through yur lens. Your use of deth of fiel is pretty much spot on. I might have cropped the top ever so slightly but now I am being ultra-picky.

Truely the skin texture is the only thing that really matters, don't over do it. All else is OK.

Thanks for your feedback!
I have soften the shadows with FS and i have sharpened the image in LR, mostly edges, I don't think it affected her skin too much. I used the Zeiss Batis 85mm f1.8 at f2.5 and ISO 640. Maybe I should go over the skin again and soften it.

Thanks for posting this, was just asked to shoot a dentist office staff. She has a great natural expression here. Out of curiosity, what modifier did you use?

Thanks! I used a 110cm umbrellabox with a flashgun.

Her hair does seem a little sloppy and the mirror in the right of the frame, about the same size of her head, is a little distracting. Great expression captured. However, maybe most importantly, her teeth look great.! Good job.
