These two images are the first two of my recent bout of ICM photos. They haven't actually been edited with any real post-processing software, just the .NEF converter built into my camera. I'm putting them up here to get people's opinions before I edit these and the rest. I also have several in color, but nothing that will look good with just the camera's processor. What do you think?
The first is a landscape image done with a sinusoidal motion. The scene is a storm coming across a bean field with trees in the background. I like this one for the varieties in the greys and the motion in the scene.
The second is of a log done with a horizontal pan. I like the gradient in the tones from top to bottom, but am not sure if I blurred the image with too much panning.
Nope, I don't think the 2nd image is too blurred. If you didn't say it was a log I would have thought it was waves on the water. All the log's roughness has been smoothed out by the pan. So it works for me.
For me, I think these types of images work better in color, but that's more a personal preference.
Thank you! I hadn't considered the wave look, but now I see it. I do agree that the ICM technice generally works best in color, and do have several more color ones I want to work with. I want to have access to full scale editing when I deal with them though. I do plan to come up with a color version of the bottom one.
Looking forward to them!
