On of the encouragement from others in my last post, here are some ice samples I took last night. Right now I'm trying to get a feel for lighting, composition, shapes, backgrounds, etc to come up with a compelling series.
First some background:
I took the ice out of the freezer when I thought it was solid, but it wasn't. When it slid out of the cup water gushed out leaving the ice hollow on the inside. Not exactly what I was going for, but the patterns and formations the remaining ice took on were stunning to me to say the least. Not much in the way of trapped air but I'm glad I got this.
The first two shots are of the ice melting and breaking apart.
Input and critique are always welcome.
I really like image number 3.
Thanks, Matthew.
I was one of those commenters on the previous post. I think the color gels you mentioned then are working for you here. Keep up the good work and you can toss the ice in a glass with your favorite adult spirits. You might find yourself chuckling with pleasure as your view your images.
Haha! I'll keep that in mind. Thanks again for your input!
Aw......I love the lighting!!
