First Snow ICM

These are three different edits of a 7-layer ICM composite. I finally got the first snow of the season here in Indiana last week and went out to do some shooting. I have more images coming, but at this point I'd like to see some opinions about the one I've done so far.

Which version appeals to you most? I don't mind technical reasons, but I'm more looking for first impressions.

I prefer the first one because there is a bit more color in it.

Thanks for the comment Chaz. The first one is in color, the last two are black and white.

I actually took the first one, duplicated the layer and ran it through Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 (full contrast and structure), then set the opacity at around 6%. That increased the black contrast a little without changing the color much.

I'll have to try something similar.

Agree with Chaz... the colour version appeals to me as well...

Mike

Thank you Mike.

Late to the party but have to agree with others. The subtle use of color adds an extra dimension.

I love B&W in general but feel in this instance that the removal of color removes that layer of interest and the eye is left wandering around the image.

I really like the first, but would perhaps crop out that dark tree on the right edge.

Great work Matthew, you ICM is coming along leaps & bounds!

Thank you very much for commenting Alan. I should have a final version done pretty soon. Your idea about the crop was a good one that I hadn't yet considered. I'll give it a shot for sure.

One of the chief reasons my ICM has improved is the continued guidance and support of this group. I appreciate it a lot.
