I have been trying to evolve my 'in the round' technique to incorporate more background detail of interest to enhance the story,
This is an image I took downtown last week, a usual composite of images layered and blended in Photoshop. This also has a slight enhancement in Topaz Studio (which I'm evaluating) to give a little more pop.
Comment as you see fit. As always all feedback is treated as a gift, whether positive or negative, from novice or veteran alike.
Really like the technique used, this almost feels like a colored pencil drawing (if that makes sense). I have Studio 2 in my toolbox and use it fairly often in my creative works; it's a fairly solid program; specially like the precision contrast.
Thanks Joe. Other than the creative tools I am liking the fine controls and ability to layer/mask/set opacity on each control.
I find that a lot of the subjects you've recently been doing (statues, towers, etc.) don't appeal to me as much as the natural subjects you started with. I'm not sure why. That's just my two cents.
I will say, just to add, my favorite work done in this style have been the solo trees. It must have something to do with "Organic Subject" melded with this Technique.
I think that has a lot to do with it. Even within Alan's work, I find that an aspect of minimalism helps a lot too. If the surroundings become too cluttery, it doesn't appeal as much to me.
Thanks Matthew/Joe for the feedback. The intent isn't so much to compare with other work but to experiment and expand the boundaries.
These subjects are a lot more challenging than solo trees, but no fear, I will still be taking those as opportunities arise.
Hi Alan,
The vision gets drawn to 3 elements and I think thats the story of this frame. The church cross, Bell and a soul walking by. the bell could be a bit sharper to hold the attention at the end. the same is the largest among all and the apparent reason of the frame.
Else, the attention moved out after seeing cross...
cheers.
