Christmas tree

I am trying to force myself into the cold winter nights and experiment with some of the Christmas lights before they get turned off.

Here's a few captured last night, all variations on an ICM theme. I personally love the blue lighting up the snow beneath.

For the sake of generating discussion do you have any opinions on these in general do any in particular strike a chord (or even perhaps a nerve....).

As always, all sincere feedback is appreciated, whether that be positive OR negative.

I like the first, Alan. It gives the impression of a weeping habit (like a willow).

I'd probably shoot a second frame on a tripod, and clone the trunk from the static frame in.

Anyway, they're all striking :)

Thanks for the suggestion William. It might be difficult to get a shot on a tripod and a separate ICM shot to line up. Here's an edited version on the first shot which I think falls more in line with what you suggested;

Yeah, that's the juice!

My wife said "that's cool, it's sort of ethereal".

I agree with William on the first. My first impression was of dangling icicles. This is something that I feel fits with the wintry feel of the lights and blue hue in this image as a whole. I think #3 is the next best, because of the way the lights reflect underneath the tree and the defined trunk, but I think it could do with a bit more space on the top. They all look very seasonal indeed.

Just for you Matthew :-) I tend to agree - is this better?

I love this Alan! I like the way they streaks kind of fade away at the top in this version, rather than just being cut off as before. In fact, I think that I prefer this one over the other four. I'm glad to see you keep working with your photos. I always am glad when you put something out.

Oh yeah! The extra space really makes a huge difference for me!

Oh wow. Echoing William and Matthew in preferring the first image. Loving the icicle vibe and the blue glow on the snow. I appreciate the different take on something so basic as Christmas lights

Thanks Bruce. The cobalt blueness really attracted me also - all in the name of fun.

Among images submitted, Image 4 - straightened.
