How to Respond When a Company Notices You on Instagram?

I shot this for a tourism campaign for South Padre Island and recently posted it to my Instagram and tagged Evinrude hoping they would see it. I've done this several times in the past with other companies with no results, but today they actually responded. Now the photo is already licensed by an advertising agency and they have exclusivity to the entire photoshoot.

How do I respond to them asking to take the discussion off of Instagram and possibly start a possible relationship with their brand?

In other words are there any etiquette tips when it comes with dealing with brands on Instagram anyone can share?

Best guy to answer this is Andrew Griswold. I tried this and only got 1 response from all recipes, but I think it was more because they're heavily based on user submitted content.

I think the best way is to respond to the comment and ask for an email or contact where you can reach them to take this forward. From there, you could always let them know that the shoot was commissioned and you would not be able to share these images, but would look to work with them in the future.
Even though that would disappoint a client, there may not be another way to do it when the photo rights are held by someone else.

Love this post! One thing that I get asked all the time is how to connect with companies and also reply to companies when they finally reach out. We had talked breifly off site aboutt his and you handled it perfect, replying that these images are being used currenly but you would love to chat with someone at the company separately and to reach out via email. Get that contact and use it to find a name and someone at the company to talk with more. Great stuff!
