Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque at Sunset

I visited this mosque like every other tourist when I visited the United Arab Emirates. I went during the day and it was quite amazing. Photography wasn't the goal of this trip so I wasn't timing my shots for perfect photos. A few days later, while I was still in the UAE, I came across some sunset photos of the mosque and was blown away how gorgeous it gets. I made it a point to go back around sunset and took this shot.

Beautiful shot.

Thanks Darren!

Nice.

Thanks!

Love the layers. What is going on at the bottom of the shot?

It's verses from the Quran in Arabic (I believe) on the walls. Is that what you are referring to?

No I was looking for a base for the textures to sit on, front to back the material textures accent the layers. An added element...

Gorgeous!
Seeing the base (lower down) might give the image more of a sense of 'completion'

Thanks! I totally agree with you and that's a great observation :) TPeople were entering the mosque for evening prayers as the sun was setting and the way I chose to avoid the distracting people was to crop it right where I did. There was probably a way to incorporate them nicely in the photo through a different composition, but I wanted the focus to stay on the architecture so I cut any people out.
