I visited this mosque like every other tourist when I visited the United Arab Emirates. I went during the day and it was quite amazing. Photography wasn't the goal of this trip so I wasn't timing my shots for perfect photos. A few days later, while I was still in the UAE, I came across some sunset photos of the mosque and was blown away how gorgeous it gets. I made it a point to go back around sunset and took this shot.
super cool shot! I wonder if you can time it so you get some more dramatic light comes in low and through the pillars. Still, very cool shot
Thank you! That certainly would be ideal and it's what I told myself... but to time that perfectly would be the kind of thing you can do if your sole purpose is to get the best ever shot ever of this place. You'd go back at different times to catch the best... but I was just a tourist visiting this place among many others, and wanted to get to see all the other things the city had to offer during my short stay. Going a second time was already a big luxury! Also, this place is always full of people, but they all went in for the evening prayers at sunset, which allowed me to at least avoid the people. So it would be really tricky to catch the few minutes of the dramatic light and be lucky enough to have no people around during that narrow timeframe :(
Superb composition! I like that you took the time to get verticals plumb and horizontals level. The gentle lighting is so exquisitely subtle. Well done!
Very nice picture with a good composition and tonality. I’m not sure if a low light would make this motive better. I like very much the light and colors.
The warm light on the upper part of the photo contrasting the blue lower part. Very nice.
