For what it is worth, I think it is good although I see no reason to crop the head in an upright shot.

I like the direct eye contact and his expression. He is well groomed. You have chosen a low POV which adds a sense of him being tall/impresive, without getting in too close, which can create a comic effect, looking up the nose and making the head look small on a fat body. So well done.

Colour palette is about right matching the bg to his tie. Personally, I would have chosen a darker blue bg to make it more adult, than the almost baby-boy/wedgewood blue chosen, or used light and shade to gradually add darkness above his shirt colar level.

Lighting; I would have flagged or used more directional lightshaping to darken his chest so as to add emphasis to his face, whereas his bright white shirt is dominating the image, as is. I don't mind the beauty lighting approach to his face but with heavy flagging of his chest, a more side light approach, albeit at a lower brightness, would have added a more 3D effect to his tie and waist coat.

Overall, a good job which is 75%, imo. And that is a pretty good score.

I'm with Ian on the more "adult" background and the cropping of the head, however I kind of like that the chest is evenly lit and think that a darker background will make that look even better than flagging the chest, but it basically comes down to personal choice. Now with the face it looks a bit airbrushed to me and the beard stubs around the mouth seems a bit too soft and he has a bit of a baby look to his face (so maybe the light blue isn't that far off after all), but I would have loved to see a bit more rough and masculine features in his face!

I want to like shot like this more, but it's just do flat for how 3d it's trying to be. I would have pushed the light overhead a bit more to the side, and made it a little less soft. It's a good try though. Best of luck on your next shot.
