The mailbox at the end of my street. Only a few doors down from my house in Odessa, Texas. On August 31, 2019 my mail carrier was murdered and her mail van hijacked during a city wide mass shooting spree by a very sick individual. It’s been all over the news. She died only a few yards away from this mailbox which she was collecting from. This morning someone left flowers… I took this photo and noticed something in the foreground I didn’t see when I took it. A shell casing.

Horrible tragedy and senseless loss. These events typically focus on the attacker but we should remember the impact these people have on our daily lives. Thank you for bearing witness to her importance in your community.
Thanks Chris for your very good words. One whacked out SOB ruined a lot of lives that day. This spontaneous and anonymous act of remembrance brought a tear to my eye when I saw it and had to run home and grab my camera...
