Feedback on Contest Entry

This photo is one of three I entered into the latest contest "Emotion." My first entry was less than stellar (I've accepted it :)), my second did well and my third fell short of expectations. It garnered a few "Excellent" ratings for which I'm grateful but has settled down to a current low "Needs Work."

The photo is from a recent engagement shoot with my niece at the Capitol Columns in DC. There are many other photos from this session but I thought this specific one really captured the emotion from the day.

What do you see? What's good, bad and what needs work? I'm always looking to improve.

To me, this looks too stiff and contrived. I would have had the guy leaned in more so he doesn't look so stiff and she wouldn't have had to tilt her head so far back. And, with her head tilted that much, her throat looks like it's bulging.

Thank you for the pointers. I see that now. I didn't consider that because the way she leaned into him was so natural. I'll keep it in mind for the next one.

Hi there.
at my opinion, the frame is too tight. for the compostion of half portraits. Could have been a different story if close up.

How about using any props or giving contextual relation by coming out of crop giving some breathing space?

Or even changing the camera location going a little on right?

cheers.

Thank you, Vijay. I really appreciate the insight.
