Harsh or dramatic light does not mean lots of black with no detail, imo. So, a little detail in her hat, if that is what she is wearing, or even just a touch of dark out of focus background so the black hat can be defined against a not quite so blackness. I think her face is too dark. The reflection in her eyes and on the tip of her nose make this looks too much like a snap shot with a small flash gun but if you lighten the face they eyes will be less dark, too and this will make the reflection less of an issue, I think. A slightly larger light source would also have helped but done some softening of the shaddow edges too, so that is a balancing act.
The first thing I noticed was the eyes....they are not as sharp as I would love to see. That would have made this shot really pop. With heavier shadows and bright, sharp eyes....this would be something! As far as drama...there is that. Also, I'm a fan of somewhat heavier shadows so when I see a portrait like this, I have a difficult time looking objectively. :-)
Overall, I like the work.
