Overall the image is very powerful. I do like it. Unfortunately, the very first thing I noticed, however, is the book which looks odd positioned like that. It is quite distracting and un-attractive like that and for me ruins the entire image, which is such a shame. The second and last negative is the sand near you, this looks like a photoshop composite, that has not been honed to blend in naturally.

Otherwise, I think it is superb.

At first glace I really liked the look of the picture, and my eyes went straight to the book. I thought maybe I was supposed to know what the book was, and maybe if I were familiar the North African region I would instantly know what it was. I love the color scheme.

The Alchemist (novel) .

I did also notice the book, but my eye did first look at the face/head. Seeing the book was my, "oh darn" moment. Wished it wasn't there, but I can live with it. :-)

Apart from that, the image is great! Perhaps would have liked the sand a bit more exposed....just to heighten the contrast with the mountains. Just a thought....

Powerful image. Tells a great story. Makes me wonder who he is, what is he looking at, what is his story. My eye did too go to the book and it seemed off. There might be a purpose of the book might be in the untold story and might be part of a bigger set of pictures. For just seeing this one, I would want it without the book. Great processing, Great light, great background. SOLID image
