We all know, retouching can be extremely tedious! Especially when it comes to beauty or close-up work. It requires extreme precision which in turns tends to make the process quite long. I'm sure we'll have habits when editing and I'd love to hear yours!
I used to have the TV on all the time when retouching, but I've found that EDM, House, and other kinds of electronic music help me retouch faster. Having Spotify is a real blessing! I can change music and find new playlists all the time! If you use Spotify too, what are some of your favorite playlists to listen to when editing?
I listen mostly to Pandora or Youtube , R&B music .
Any playlist in particular on Pandora or Youtube?
Jhene Aiko , Alina Baraz & Trey Songz to name a few .
Mostly deep house sessions by Drop G and Regard:

this is good Umar... i like it
Thanks Percy, I love the sessions by Regard
depends on what I'm retouching or working on. If its my own stuff prob Metallica or any kind of Salsa... for beauty i like jazz and blues
Interesting, that's quite diverse!
And that's not even half of it... I also hate (plus is bad for your posture) to be sitting at my desk for hours on end so dancing and guitar airplay is often included every half hours or so. Not to mention is always good to step away from that monitor and refresh your eyes after a while
Totally agree! I go grab some food every 30-45minutes, but I guess your way is healthier ;)
Usually I'll have Netflix on in the background, but recently I've actually really been loving classical piano.
I love listening to classical music when writing articles or doing translation work!!
Have you noticed any difference in your work speed when having Netflix on in the background compared to listening to music?
I think I'm definitely more productive while listening to classical, but it depends what's on netflix. If it's a show I've seen loads before it doesn't distract me as much as a new show.
Honestly, I might try switching to only classical music, if not just for the aesthetic alone.
Spotify is really one of the best thing, that happend, I love it. It's almost on all day. When I retouch, usually I 'm listening deep house, or some similar electronic music, or jazz.
Dance club, house or electronic works for me.
RODRIGUEZ <3
As a "I love Rodriguez, the singer" or is it a love declaration made on the web? 🤔
Audiobooks and podcasts mostly!
I was wondering if anyone was listening to audiobooks or podcast. I've tried a few times, but never stuck with it for some reason. However, it's an excellent way to learn while working!
What kind of podcasts or audiobooks do you listen to? Any you'd recommend?
Well, I've been listening to audiobooks for years - they took a couple of tries to get into, but now I LOVE them - it's like doing 2 things at once. I think the way I finally was able to train my brain to enjoy audiobooks was to listen to a favorite book that I'd read several times; that seemed to clinch it (otherwise my attention just drifted). There are tons of books on Audible and other audiobook services, and I have a subscription. I probably go through a book a week or so but it could be more than that if I was listening as often as I'd like to. I tend to like mysteries and humor. Sometimes the narrator will completely make or break a book, but most of the time I'm able to concentrate on the story and not be distracted by the narrator.
For podcasts, there are far too many to list. If you pick a subject, there's probably a podcast about it! :) A couple that I like are How Stuff Works, Serial, Savage Love (fair warning about frank discussions of sexuality and politics for that), S-Town, Blabbermouth, and I don't even know what else.
I just loop this

Anything sublime (Bach, Haendel, Vivaldi, Porpora, Hasse, Graun, de Fesch, Caldara, Zelenka, Fasch, etc.) or cute (Aznavour, Savage Garden, Alison Moyet, Roxette, Brigitte Bardot, Al Bank & Romina Power, Joe Dassin, etc.).
Really anything I listen to anyway...
