Michael Marshall's picture

Still learning lighting and frequency seperation.

hi guys please right my wrongs, This image was made with two speedlites, one on the camera and the other was off-camera to the right in a softbox, and a reflector to the left.

Wow! This is an all around great image. I love the color and the attention to detail in her accessories. Good job.
My only 'critical' comment would be that your on-camera flash is creating an extra (and small) catchlight in her eye that's a bit distracting. Pretty small really and an easy fix.

cheers

Thanks so much, i will go back to ps and fix that, thank you sir.

What wrongs? I think you have done a very good job. If we consider you had no modeling lights and just a couple of speedlights, one on camera at that, then I am doubly impressed.

You have demonstrated great use of colour, a strong composition and a lovely girl, always helps.

I think it is very slightly out of balance, she needs a little space to look into, so either shoot with a slightly wider lens or from slightly further back, then crop top and bottom to something like what you have here but leaving the extra width for her looking room. I would have just raised the top so no crop of the hat.

Airbrushing; I think you have done a good job of her skin, which looks great and fairly natural/unreouched. I do think sorting out the reflections of your lights, in her eyes, would be a good idea, though.

Overall, great job.

wow....such a comment from you means a lot to me, i appreciate.
yeah, the room space was necessary, just that we did this shot in my small living room, didn't have much space to play around, all the same i will consider that next time. and the eyes will definitely be fixed. thank you Ian.
