First portrait with my Nikon D750 and an 85mm 1.8G. Lighting was with a 36" Octobox and a rim light against a black background. C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks!
Glasses always present a challenge and you have made him look good with no poblem effects from his specs. The back-light is beautifully judged although the edge of his shirt collar, against the bg, looks like a cut out edge. He does look very good but I would be interested to know if you have any other versions, with less fill from below, to add further impact. I see you have not actually added any to speak of, or perhaps at all, but some floor or table seems to be throwing a touch back up from your key light.
Thanks, Ian, for your feedback. Coming from you, it is especially appreciated. The "fill from below" is, in all probability, the "spill" from the octobox because of an 8ft. ceiling limitation and the light's placement. I don't recall any other reflective surfaces that would have provided the fill.
I like it, but my brain keeps wanting me to see him moved to the left of the image so he has open space in the direction his body s facing - too much friction on the right side of the image. Also there's a distracting white dot on the button of his collar.

Well done.

Again, thanks.
