I must admit I have been lax in both my shooting and posting recently, perhaps due to the fact my wife has now retired, and we are spending a LOT more time together doing various activities.
The Sun and the Moon: Edited to add last photo
I wanted to see how my 50 year old Canon FD 800mm f/5.6 s.s.c. would handle photographing both the Sun and the Moon.

From memory I liked the other Richard shot but I like this rather better. The smile is nice althought that is not my reason. I prefer the composition, which is much more balanced and works very well. Although the hat did not need to be cropped. I don't think the lighting is much different but that is not a bad thing as the lighting was very good, as it is here. I can't tell if there is any different level of fill from reflected light coming up from below the lens but it looks great, so I am not worried. Nice job.
