Vintage Lens
Another visit to our garden using a vintage lens (Canon FD 50mm f/1.4) on my Canon R5. NOTE: With this lens the minimum focusing distance is 18" at which point you have 1/4" depth of field.
Any interest in this group?
Hi all, I was looking for such a group but see that although there are many members there hasn’t been a single post. Is there interest out there in getting this group going?
Vintage Lenses
I thought I would try out my 50 year old lenses: Canon FD 50mm f/1.5 SSC and Canon FD 28mm f/2.8 on my Canon R5 with the use of the appropriate adapter.

Much to like here but the blacks seem crushed to oblivion and that means there is no richness or even mystery in them. His shirt being the same clipped black as the background flattens the whole thing depsite the ultra high contrast, which intuitively one might expect to be very 3D but it is not really. On the other hand, it does lend it a fine art look, rather than a classical photography look. A personal taste one then. I am in two minds but erring towards I'd prefer more black depth, meaning more detail in the blacks rather than flat black, which of course is not deep.
Mixed feelings here. Overall, a good composition and the lighting is Ok, too.
Thanks Ian, very helpfull.
Nice artistic interpretation. I believe this was your goal instead of a less contrasty, more detailed shot. It works for me.
