CC / Feedback long exposure photo

Hi guys

First of all, I'm new here on Fstoppers website - so hi to everyone :)

I did my first long exposure photo during last weekend. I just bought Lee's Big Stopper.
I'm looking for some CC / feedback and I hope you guys can help me regarding that :)

Mikkel,
Looks like you got the technique down. The color pallet is nice. The simple composition works for me. The thin darker color band in the water distracts my eye a bit.
Congrats,
Mike

Hi Michael
Thanks for your feedback! The dark color band in the water is actually seaweed. The water at this beach is quite clear.
Thanks again for your lovely comment!

I agree with Michael, you have nailed the technique and it looks quite good. Reflecting on the last point, about the dark band, I tried to imagine the picture without it. I think it might be a bit boring without it and the colour, being the same as the horizon and the bottom left corner and being harmonic with the three blue hoops arount the top of the structure, the dark band looks OK, to me, tieing the space together into a coherant design. Hope that does not sound to fanciful or pompous.

Overal, I think it is a sucessful exercaise but still a bit simple and boring but ,given the subject you made something of it. Good job.

Hi Ian
I agree that the subject might be a bit simple and boring but this was the scenario I had imagined as my first long exposure photo with the Lee Filter. I'm happy to hear that you like it and I did a good job!
I like the dark band as well, it creates something in the photo so your explanation did not sound too fancy at all! :-)

love the simplicity

Thanks Jayden! I appreciate your comment.

Nice image and for a first attempt - you nailed it. Composition wise, I really like the limited colour pallet - the different colours in the stones look great with the bands around the tower-thing. What would I have done different? Without knowing what the rest of the location is and what tripod you have it's a tough call but if you could have had the camera higher and tilted down a bit (which would cause some issues but could be fixed in post) you could have had the end point of the structure bang on the horizon and increased the area of sea visible which would create a funky triangle shape that would (IMO) draw the view deeper into the image and make it a bit more 3d. Like I say, all subjective but you've done a good job here.

Cheers for the lovely feedback! Interesting regarding the triangle shape that you are talking about. I might try that another day on the same location.

Very understated. i agree, you've got the chops... But now i'd like to see something more dramatic!

Cheers! I'll work on that
