Would love some feedback. This is lake in Jyvaskyla, Finland.

Beautiful location and the sky is gorgeous! I love that all the weight of the photograph is on the right and it's nice and open on the left. I'm a fan of asymmetry. The only thing that sticks out to me is the sky around the tree. It looks like it was a little difficult to blend the sky in around it. If that happens to be the case, I would recommend using the refine edge tool in Photoshop. It works wonders for things like hair or leafy edges like that tree has.

thank you mike .. this is a single exposure .. i believe it is because of the moving leaves .. i tried bringing out the colors with color efex pro .. maybe i need to learn to use it more effectively ..

I love the colors! :)

thank you mikkel

To me, this is a beatiful scene degraded by added colour saturation, or so it appears to me. Many people add saturation, thinking more is better. It is not. Experienced and sensitive mature photographers rarely add saturation and if they do it is very slight. In this case it makes a naturally beautiful scene look like a child's painting, with those nursery school big and bold colours. Should be easy to fix and you'll have a much more grown up photograph.

It is nice to have a person on the rocks although there is a strange bright line around the rocks, which suggests all sorts of mischief in Photoshop has been done. Again adding school-room aesthetics to a simple, natural and beautiful scene.

Thank you sir.. On hopes to grow from a child and becoming a man someday :D

I suspect you just did. Well done. I'd like to see the photo with a more subtle edit, when you have aminute. It is a nice shot.

thank you Ian. I came here to learn and surely all these feedbacks will help me grow. I am starting to love this forum. :). I will also try to process this image again keeping ur pointers in mind. Cheers

Hi Yogesh,

I love the scene and the composition. It's clear you have a vision of what a good photograph should look like. However, the post processing needs to be toned down, i.e. go easy with the saturation. It looks like you've got blown highlights in the yellow part of the sky. The clouds are beautiful, so I'm sure there's some detail still in there you can rescue. Color Efex Pro is a great piece of software, though even with control points it can be very difficult to make the precise selections you need. I think this may be contributing the halos around the rocks and trees.

A final point - I'm not sure what the person is adding to the scene. If it's a holiday memory, then I completely get it, but for a stand-alone landscape, they're more of a distraction for me.

Just be more delicate with the post-processing and you have yourself a really great image!

Cheers

Thank you Stephen .. I completely get it .. Probably looking at so many beautiful pictures all day i am slowly getting good at composing but when it comes to processing i tend to play with the sliders too much. It has just been about a year i have started taking pictures. I know i have miles to go. But i am starting to like this forum. These kind of feedbacks will surely help me grow. Thank you once again. I will surely keep your points in mind.
