Location ideas?

Just a quick thought, has anyone here ever had any experience shooting in North Wales (specifically the Holyhead area)? I'm off there for a few days next month and was wondering if anyone had any tips or locations they wouldn't mind sharing? I lived there for a year back in the 90's in my RAF days so I'm aware that the weather is often less than great so I'm prepared for that but my photography back then was limited to taking photo's of me and my mates in a pub with a point and shoot! Cheers guys :)

Hello Paul! I spent a few days on Llŷn peninsula and got many wild weather images! The tip of the Llŷn peninsula, including Morfa Nefyn offers many opportunities.

Cheers for the tip! It's also just occured to me that the menai bridge might throw up some decent opportunities!

Morfa Nefyn has a pub on the water front. You can enjoy a pint and take seascapes :D

Now we're talking :)

Paul, I am very much across the pond from you so I have absolutely no idea what locations are good. However, in my experience, just walking along and scoping out locations, generally right near the coast line or river or whatever, works for me. During the summer when I did it, I had to walk through private property, which was easy since they were all outside. Just say something like "hello, I'm a photographer visiting the area and was looking for some nice coast. Would you mind if I walked through your yard to get to the coast? Your house would not be in the photo." And just be polite. If you are anywhere you are unsure of (I was on questionable property off the beach in Gloucester on a rocky area overlooking a cove) and anybody questions you, just politely ask if you are on their property and explain you are a photographer, and offer to leave if you are bothering them. Hope this helps a bit!

Cheers,
Tyler

The best solution to the often inclement weather may be your old technique of shooting in the pub.

I must admit I was wondering if my old watering holes had changed much :)
