I also re-composed for a landscape shot - no room left in portfolio for an easy upload!

I prefer the landscape version for composition but prefer the edit on the portrait version.

Thanks Robert, I'm going to have a go at a re-edit on the landscape version

Paul they are both strong images mate, but in my opinion the second shot as a landscape is the better more engaging image. well done nice work. please check out my post also as I would like some feed back.

Thanks Laith, I think I need to tweak the whites and contrast on the second one.

That looks like your recent flunk, if that is how you described it, might be a thing of the past. Looks great. Perhaps pan a bit more to the left to create a little space left of the cross and to exclude the cross on the far right, but that's it. It has a lovely, almost infrared, look to the shadows and a spiritual feeling. from the glow and the sheen on the doors, facade and the big cross. The shadow in the forground is perfect, adding just the right weight and base to construct the image on. Good one young man, I like it.

Cheers Ian :) Looking at it, I see what you mean. I'm just pretty stoked that the slump is over!

I think the landscape version is better overall as the sens of place is helpful but the other crop is totally fine, too. The image quality was better in the upright as Robert indicated.

I agree with Mr. Mynard's comment. Cheers.

Landscape adds more drama to the shot - both are well composed though!

Paul,
Very nice. B&W?? Welcome to the dark side. Haha. Love both images. The long exposure generating the wispy clouds really works here. The solid church with wispy skys hints at an interesting story. In both I find the church door just bit bright. I like it being bright as it draws my eye to the door but there is a band of almost pure white on the top left of the door which looks a bit off. Easy to fit I think.
Congrats,
Mike
