In answer to your question, the only thing i can think of would have been to bend your knees, so the foliage became bigger, but this would have flattened the scape, so a balancing exercise, like most of what we do.
I like this although the sun looks a bit digital, as it so often does in such shots. Hard to get it look more analogue though, I know. The foliage in the water's margin also looks abit digital, over processed, over blacked.

I was trained in photography, in the 1970s, so like you I have an ongoing and very much uphill struggle to learn editing in all its many guises, nuances and software products. It is great but an unholy nightmare.
