thank you Shyama for such detail feedback. I prolly was there at the right time. For whole of the trip the mountains never opened again. It was always covered in clouds. :)
I would love a black and white treatment on this, shooting for white snow highlights and intense mood. In fact, I did it in post out of curiosity. It looks great. Nice work. By the way when I processed it in b&W I noticed you have some spots on your lens - upper left corner and left side of the shot. They're not as visible in your color version, but are prominent in the b&W. Let me know if you want to take a look and I'll post the shot.
Photography, as we all understand, is the making of pictures using light to render the image, rather than paint or other synthetic media to represent a scene or realise an abstact design. Light is our medium and working with it our metier. You have crafted this photograph beautifully, using the colour and character of available light, excellently. No, you did not create the lighting or the mountain but you put yourself before the mountain when the light was good and had your camera ready and used it, and your skills, to great effect. Of course, the phrase, available light, risks trivialising the work we do, suggesting that the light is just there and the camera does the work of capturing it, whilst our role is to do not much more than provide the camera with transport. Of course, we all know that is not the way of it. Great photos are not made by great cameras but by great artists who choose light and the camera as their paint and canvas.
You have photographed that scene and the light on it in that moment beautifully. Well done.
Love the Mood.
Great use of colour theory.
Blue and orange compliment each other really well.
Cloud add drama and depth.
Overall great capture.
