First attempt at HDR CC please

I tried my hand at a +- 1 stop HDR photo the other day at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Oregon. HDR was the only way I could think of to capture the full dynamic range of the scene. Unfortunately, there wasn't much going on in the sky that morning. Feedback on the HDR and composition are greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I like it! Personally I might have cloned out whatever that is on the far right horizon, but other than that, I think it's nice. Good job.

Good point on cloning out the item on the right. My photoshop skills need a little work.

Nah, you're doing just fine! One tip that I got from someone and seems to work pretty well, after you edit a photo, turn off the computer. Look at something else for a while, then come back to it with fresh eyes.

I like the colours and the edit and also like the simplicity of the sky. There's a good range of depth in the image too.
The things I would have done differently would be to crop out whatever that curved thing is coming into frame on the right hand side, and if you had moved yourself to the left by a couple of steps you would have gotten a bit more breathing room between the tractor and the windmill, at the moment I feel that they are a little to close together considering all the empty space on the left hand side of the shot. Having the tractor as the first place your eye hits you then naturally follow in the direction that its facing and it would have been nice to have had a journey over to the windmill rather than hit it right away and then stop. A square crop of this image with equal space behind the tractor and to the left of the windmill would feel a lot more balanced.
Great location! Makes me wish I could see that festival one day...

Thanks for the response. I agree that cloning out the greenhouse, I think that's what it is, would have helped. Good point on moving to get a little more room between the tractor and windmill.

Generally I don't like HDR but here you have done agreat job of using it and it has worked, creating a lovely albeit painterly effect. Yes, I agree with the others about the clutter on the right, which should have been cloned or cropped out. As should the cloud top left.

I think you did a very good job and can easily make it a great job, even now.

I don't like over done HDR either. I was hoping to keep this under control limiting it to only a +1 -1 exposure compensation. Thanks for the feedback.

Good job keeping the colors in control. Many times HDR can become over saturated and specifically the greens can become unruly which becomes distracting.

I totally agree that HDR is typically overdone. I was hoping just to use it enough to capture what I was seeing. Limiting the exposure comp to +1 -1 kept me from going overboard.
