First Trip to Yosemite (Critique Wanted)

Hey Guys,
It's been awhile since I've posted because I've been so busy with school but I found time to take a weekend trip to Yosemite. This was my first trip there so I bought a book on photograph locations in the park. The book was great I would highly recommend picking up a copy if you visit the park: https://www.amazon.com/Photographers-Guide-Yosemite-Michael-Frye/dp/1930.... I had a great time and I think I got some great photos. I would love some constructive criticism. Thanks!

Hi Walker these are fine but seem to lack some impact. Maybe saturating the colour a bit and increasing the contrast would help. The bottom one lacks a bit of warmth. Maybe would work better at a different time of day. Short trips mean you don't have the luxury often of waiting around for the right light. Sometimes I think a lot of our landscapes lack the presence of people in them. This was a common practice once, particularly by people like Darius Kinsey, an amazing pioneer photographer.

Thanks for the help!

about 2 decades ago i climbed from base to the top of half dome and back to base in 13 hrs it was an amazing hike with ridiculous views ...these images are close to being
good, its just a matter of time of day editing and composition. first one is pretty but stagnant, nothing to excite or draw the viewer in for a closer look. the second you need more foreground elements and the time of day screwed you. go take a look at Ansel Adams and you will see how to photograph Yosemite it was his bread and butter

Thanks for the help! I actually went to an Ansel Adams museum/gallery that was in the park and bought a print.

study it well my friend that man was a genius!!!!

Hi, the first one is a nice composition but lacks interest. Ice in winter, a storm, an animal in the river, something. On the second one, crop to get rid of the boring foreground, and again you need something in the sky to add interest. Sure some postprocessing might improve the current photographs, but mainly you need interesting weather conditions. Here's an unprocessed image of mine. With some dodging on the dome, and basic postprocessing it really pops. It's taken from Glacier Point btw, in the middle of the day. But the sky was great and menacing.

Thanks for the advice! I'll take everything you said into consideration. I was hoping to go to glacier point but I didn't make it. Next time for sure, it looks amazing.
