Hey group, I think we should get a new group banner photo. So how about in the comments of this post you submit one of your images and based on the up votes we can decide what one gets picked.
*** As you can see if you're browsing on a computer, the banner is stretched quite wide and not very tall. Not all images are going to look good here. The dimensions of the image are 1100 x 450 pixels. Keep this in mind when submitting here. Bonus points if you submit your image already cropped to that size so it's easy to tell if it's a good fit. Thank you! One of the benefits of skies as clear as those you can find in the Atacama desert are that the sunsets and blue hours are just gorgeous. Before nightfall, the sky turns into a deep, almost painterly lilac.
Something to remind us of the backpacking season ahead :)

It looks like we will have a winner here and the image is well deserving of recognition. It is beautiful! I hope you do not take offense that I make this observation. If I am thinking correctly of the placement in the banner, the beautiful clouds and mountain here are going to be covered by the banner text and the open field will become the focal point. I could be wrong! I don't think that this crop is a fit for the banner. However, when the time comes to place it in the banner, I hope a crop can be explored that ensures the mountains and clouds aren't hidden. Then it will make a beautiful banner!
Some very nice entries here. And may I submit this one for your consideration? Mt. Baker and a storm moving across the North Cascade mountains of Washington. Cropped to the correct dimension ratio.

Thank you. I will admit that it is enhanced, but very little. I've never seen a sunset glow like that over such a wide area.

Hi All, Here is something from the mellow coast of the Jersey Shore. :)
Survivor - with correct crop (messed up the original posting)
This was taken from a day ice fishing in Idaho and the action was slow. I decided to try and take some images and this one I thought had some nice colors.
I was torn between uploading one of my more dynamic landscapes, but decided on this one, feeling that the muted look would be more apropos for a banner. This was from the 2019 California, "Super Bloom." The yellow in the distance is actually acres of brittlebush flowers.
