Why?? When I edit my photos, i.e. straighten, crop, etc. and order an 8x10, the subject is cut off at both ends, however the digital image in Google photo looks just fine. What am I doing wrong?

Your print size has to match your aspect ratio. What are the dimensions of your photo?
For instance, the aspect ratio on my Canon is 3:2 at 3888x2592. If I take a photo without cropping and conforming to the aspect ratio I want to print to myself and send it for an 8x10 print it will get cropped. Why? Because the aspect ratio for 8x10 is 5:4.
You either have to conform to the aspect ratio you want, i.e. change the aspect ratio to 8x10 or find a compatible one so it doesn't get cropped. Find an aspect ratio calculator to help.
Thank you! I'm an old film photographer. I like the edit part of digital much better than anything I've seen before. I like to edit and print 8x10 for framing. Let me work on the aspect ratio and try it again.
You're welcome. I started with film in college. I never used to print anything from digital, but when I made my first print it made me want to print...a lot! It's like the culmination of all your hard work that viewing on a screen just cannot match.
Good luck.
You're exactly right. Since I'm "old school" to me there's nothing quite like a color glossy 8x10 or 11x14 in a nice frame. My FujiFilm S-1 doesn't have 5:4 but I like the larger prints. I switched to 16:9 so I'll know soon. Thanks for your help. Happy Shooting, Mike
