Namib Desert

Had the good fortune to have been over here twice recently, once on a charity trek and the second time as a photographer on an expedition supporting two ultra runners running 500k through the most grueling sections of the Namib between Ludertiz and Walvis Bay.

It's a photographers paradise, if you ignore the attrition the worlds most insanely fine sand does to your camera kit and senors, plus the surprising amount of moisture and dew you get during the morning on everything from the life giving fog that penetrates inland from the sea almost daily... then you are rewarding with golden dunes and ghostly abandoned mining towns and wrecks inexplicably left miles inland due to shifting sands. It's a magical place.

I've only heard and seen great things come from Namibia. I'd love to be as fortunate and make my way there to photograph and explore. This image is well done. The complementary colors and the symmetry between the vignetting in the sky and shadow created on the bottom really pulls you in and creates quite a mood.

It's a wonderful country. I've been very fortunate to have been there with some pretty unique access with groups and individuals with ready access to the concessions within the Namib which means I've seen some amazing unique never trodden on places within the Desert, the downside is I've so far missed out on seeing some of the more famous places you see pictures off within Namibia. I would recommend the country to everyone with a passion for photography, it ticks ALOT of boxes especially for landscape. Thanks :)
