When I started doing photography roughly 8 years ago, it was for a studio doing portraits. I took a 2 year break after having my daughter and then went into doing nature photography (mainly because I didn't want to work for another studio). I've done some portrait photography (and wedding photography) here and there over the past 5 years but not enough to say that it comes easy for me. I have a shoot coming up this Saturday and would like to get some feedback on some that I did this past summer. Here is just one picture (another is in my portfolio).
Very well balanced exposure but the tree trunk is a bit much, for me.
I prefer not to have anything with 8-10 feet of my subject, so they stand out in sharp focus.
Did my first "official" portrait shoot yesterday. So offering opinions has now taken on new meaning. :-) Portraits are REALLY hard! So, with new found appreciation for this art form.....
One thing I see is the left hand side of the background caught my eye as much as the subject did. Perhaps adjust the framing a bit. ??
